Explorer Dairies

Our Crew has been busy researching the lives of a few famous European explorers. After researching, we thought it would be fun to write a diary from their perspective. The students had to include correct dates, factual information, and also a few fun and quirky things. I was amazed, as always, with the products!
Why should I explain and encourage you to read? They created their own persuasive summaries that will make you want to jump into the screen and grab a dairy!
Find their amazing summaries on our KidBlog site on our main tool bar. Thanks for clicking!

Act of Kindness Update- Thank you!

God is writing beautiful stories in the lives of these sweet children. Our first Act of Kindness project was a GREAT success! We raised a total of $156! We also collected a few toys and a precious book bag. Thank you for giving so generously and helping your child understand the importance of  helping others in need.
I am looking forward to our next project!

Act of Kindness Project

I am eager to begin our mini-PBL on showing Acts of Kindness. We are reading two beautiful literary texts based on the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. Through reading the texts, Martin's Big Words and My Big Brother Martin, we will learn how authors develop strong characters to influence texts and we will also look at the central message of the text. With MLK Holiday quickly approaching, we thought it would be the perfect time to discuss the importance of standing firm in beliefs on individuals being treated fairly and showing kindness and love toward everyone.
The students will discuss possibilities of an act of kindness we can do as a class. I am eager to see their ideas come to life.
We listen to the song, Brave  often in class and I think it is a perfect song for our lessons next week. Because of the bravery Martin Luther King, Jr. had, we are all able to live in a world together and each day we can work to make it a kinder place to live.

Happy New Year!

Oh sweet reality woke me up at 5:30 this morning! I'm not going to pretend it was easy to wake up. I consider myself a morning person if I can wake up around 7:30 or 8:00. Although I was dragging this morning and wishing I could hop back into my bed, I was eager to see the boys and girls. They look like they grew two inches over break!

So ready or not, we took off today. We had to refresh our brains on what we were learning and pushed off until tomorrow a few new things we will be diving into.

Be sure to look over our newsletter for upcoming events, test, and an overview of what we are learning this week. Check back on the blog to see our All*Star crew in action this week!
