Welcome Home, Botany!
On Thursday we had a wonderful opportunity to see a sea turtle release! I received an email that a sea turtle was going to be released that morning. Luckily, Ms. Smith's mom lives in Charleston and was able to go to the release and Facetime with our 3rd graders. It was an awesome experience to 'be there' for the release. We can't wait to go visit the Sea Turtle Hospital in March!
Here are a few reflections from our crew! ...

Botany looked small at the beginning. It was fun seeing Botany going back home to the ocean.

There was a lot of people. There was a flag to let the sea turtle people were to come.It was a clean beach. The sea turtle people were talking to each other. The water had to be just right. She was so heavy they could not carry her.It was quite. They had to put on gloves. It left tracks.
Notes about Botany's release
by Hunter
1.The beach had to be clean.
2.The water temperature had to be just right.
3.They put the turtle on the ground so it could paddle to the ocean.
4.A flag told the people that Botany was going to be released there.
5.After Botany got in the water people had to make sure she got over the sand-bar.
6.The people who had Botany had to drive her in a truck because she was so heavy.
7.Lot’s of people were at the beach to see Botany's release.
It made me feel glad because Botany hadn't been in her environment for a while and now she finally got released and had got safely to her home.
