Weekly Update

Newsletter

Good morning! I hope all had a wonderful weekend.
I have attached the newsletter and one is provided in your child's homework folder. I encourage you to review this as it contains a lot of information for the week ahead.

  • Our reading test will be on Friday. The students have worked on comparing two types of texts on the same topic for 3 weeks in class.  They are doing very well! I usually do not allow them to take home their Daily 5 folders, but I will let them take their folders home this week to show you what they have been working on (the test is very similar). They need to return the folder each day.
  • They will have a Number of the Day test on Thursday. Their Number of the Day paper is in their Math Journal. It is a different format from the one we have used this year.
  • Thank you parents for signing-up for conferences on Volunteer Spot. We have a few more left to sign-up. Please do so soon, so you can reserve the most convenient time for you.
  • Your child has written "Study Native American Vocab" and "Study Habitats Warm-Ups" in their homework planners. We will not have any tests this week, but it is a good habit for them to study new material each night. Please do not allow your child to complete any work that we have not done in class. They are to only study what is completed, unless noted otherwise.
  • A Big THANK YOU to parents and students for your involvement in Kid Blog. As a note, this is a safe blog site for students; therefore, visitors to the site can only view what they students are writing and cannot interact with them through comments. I encourage the students to comment on their friends' posts. Your family and friends can access our Kid Blog site through our class blog http://sweetcarolina3rdgraders.blogspot.com
  • Please be sure to read Mrs. Scott's (William's mom) email regarding the auction basket "Thank you to all that have submitted items for our class auction basket.  Please remember that all donated items for the car care kit are due this Friday, 10/17. "
As always, please email or call with any questions you have.
