A Home for a Sea Turtle

Our sea turtle experts used their knowledge of what a sea turtle needs to create a model of a sea turtles habitat.

Turtles need sand to lay their eggs. 

They need water because they swim four times faster than a human! This is where they find their food. And like humans, they must come up and breathe air. When they are active they can stay under water for about 5 minutes, but can wait several hours before catching a breath of fresh air when they are resting. 

Our little hatchlings need seaweed for the first year or so. The seaweed makes for the perfect hiding spot from predators and provides plenty of good eating for the young turtles.

Sea Turtle Release

Welcome Home, Botany! 

On Thursday we had a wonderful opportunity to see a sea turtle release! I received an email that a sea turtle was going to be released that morning. Luckily, Ms. Smith's mom lives in Charleston and was able to go to the release and Facetime with our 3rd graders. It was an awesome experience to 'be there' for the release. We can't wait to go visit the Sea Turtle Hospital in March!

Botany looked small at the beginning.It was fun seeing Botany going back home to the ocean.

Botany even left some footprints.I felt good because she was back home.

There was a lot of people. There was a flag to let the sea turtle people were to come.It was a  clean beach. The sea turtle people were talking to each other.The water had to be just right.She was so heavy they could not carry her.It was quite. They had to put on gloves.It left tracks.

1.The beach had to be clean.

2.The water temperature had to be just right.

3.They put the turtle on the ground so it could paddle to the ocean.

4.A flag told the people that Botany was going to be released there.

5.After Botany got in the water people had to make sure she got over the sand-bar.

6.The people who had Botany had to drive her in a truck because she was so heavy.

7.Lot’s of people were at the beach to see Botany's release.

It made me feel glad because Botany hadn't been in her environment for a while and now she finally got released and had got safely to her home.

Turtles are endangered species and we need to help them!

Turtles need to be saved because many of them are getting eaten when they hatch. Another reason why turtles are endangered species is because they are getting caught in fishing nets and also us humans are ruining turtles habits is because we are throwing trash in the ocean and the turtles are eating the trash. This is horrible and if  we all can do our part and save the turtles from being endangered species, turtles would not go extinct.

Because they get their heads stuck in stuff like paper bags,

cans,jars and a lot of rubbish. They get confused with paper bags

and they die because they got confused with a paper bag.

That's why we need to protect the sea turtles.

Turtles are in danger because people are  living  trash on the beach and throw trash bags into the ocean and the sea turtles eat the trash and die. we need to stop doing this or we will not have any sea turtles. so at all beaches I want you and your family and friends if you live near the beach to go clean the beach and water as good as you can so please fix this problem with other people we need to save sea turtles because we need sea turtles.

Rescuing Orangutans

One of our guided reading groups is reading Rescuing Orangutans. It is a sad fact that some people capture baby orangutans as pets. In order to do so, they must first kill the mother. There has been a drastic decrease of the population of orangutans in recent years. The orangutan below captured the heart of a man that is now rescuing these precious animals and helping save their population, one orangutan at a time. This Orangutan was found in a trash can on rotten vegetables. Wille took the baby Orangutan and gave it water and and food. Less than an hour that baby Orangutan was breathing normal.Wille never  lost hope  for that baby orangutan this orangutan was only three moths old.

Willie Smits called a baby Orangutan a price of dying misery because the trader who had the baby orangutan did not take care of it and it was dying so the trader threw it in a pile of rotten vegetables and let it die but before it died, Willie took it and took care of it himself and refused to pay for the baby orangutan.

Splash!☔️ I was jumping rope outside flower blooming the clouds get dark.I need to go get my sister On pie Skyelee she put on her indigo jacket because her middle name is inigo.I put on my purple jacket.Skyelee puts on her sparkle footwear and jump in muddy puddles oh no SHE JUMPS IN MUDDY Puddles because she watches peppa pig really peppa pig the clouds get Whiter it's over.Let’s play in our treehouse.☀️

Come on rain it hadn't rained for days clouds were moving like a train as ma picked bananas off the banana tree.As I to my friends house Austin and Haden’s I tell them the rain is close they put there bathing suits on we head down to my house. I run in and ask if mom if I put on my bathing suit mom said “yes” I run in my room and slip on my bathing suit and run back outside it was gushing rain it felt like little neddle and we got my kickball and bases and started playing. If was so fun I forgot it was raining we played for hours.It got so deep it was foot deep we headed down to the creek it over flowed.So we went back to my house.The rain had slowed down it was already 5:00 and mom was calling me for dinner. That was the most fun day of summer ever.

As I sat on the back deck it felt like the ocean pored on my

Head. As I reached the phone I dialed a number.

I asked my friend rese he is serious as a deer to go crawfishing in the creek.

He said “shure I do” so when he got to my house.

He said Let’s go. OK ! As we explored the creek we coght a dozen.

Crawfish&catfish huge wones. Biger than my hand.

But We cepet exploring the hawkeye creek.we saw a big copperhead

a big bullfrog. Plus I saw a bald eagle it was  actually bald.

We got to the house we were drenched it was like 9000,000,000,lairs

We were literally ice boxes.

I was going to my friends Eli and Hana's Eli is really tall and Hana isn't but she is funny.

I hope we can do it again at Eli and Hana's after that we jumped on the trampoline and I went so high I almost touched the clouds.

I was playing in the rain because it was  blazing hot but it stopped raining. It got boiling and sizzling I went inside “ Mom can I have a Popsicle” “yes you can” I had 15 Popsicle. For the first nine weeks of school  it didn't rain. Then the second nine weeks of school  it didn't rain “I said come down rain” it didn't come down. It's third nine weeks of school  I went to sleep. That morning I wake up to a noise I looked out my window it's raining I went outside and I played in the rain I’m having so much fun in the rain.

So I put on my rain sit and said to my little sister it is going to rain so I got my brothers and I said put on your rain sit we all came out in our rain sit I close my eyes and I said to myself come on rain so the first  drop  fell right on my nose it felt like the ocean was swimming on my face Intel I heard slash splash splash it felt like a hurricane was about to come so my mom call us in because she did not  want us getting sick and soaking wet. when my sister and my brothers and me came in the house we all smile to each other and we all laugh .

We were at the White House, we call it the White House because it is really really white . Then the rain came anockin☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️ . It was like a hurricane was hitting . my brothers who are crazy, my cousin who is funny my friend  who is pretty and I  who is normal went to the condo be side us when the rain slowed down. The rain had made a jumbo deep puddle. So we rain back to get our bathing suit on and played. Not 30min but a whole hour.

So then we went back to the White House and gulped  down some soda pop and I ate a ham sandwich.  And went out to the beach and smelled the summer breeze.it smelled like dandelion fuzz with roses mixed together.And we jumped over the beautiful waves.and went back to the and swam the rest of the day.

One  day at my house when it was a hotter than lava and it haven't rained for months.Then it happened the sky went darker than a power outage. And a trickling sound came my hard working mom always full of laughter brother cheerful sister full of energy puppy and I looked outside the window and a burst of cold clean rain came.We got on our bailing suits on ran outside into our awesome wet  playground. my sister brother and I went downs the slide that was wet as a waterfall .Our  hair was as wet as  a human sweating from running in the desert.My puppy started barking at the rain .I said “stop barking at the rain it's just the rain. The rain stopped we saw a big beautiful rainbow we went inside and watched the TV.That’s how I spend a rainy day.

My friends said one day why is it so hot it's spot to rain.Me Adam Benjamin too Played video games and that what we did.Hello I sad on my phone to Artem all the way in Hawaii he sad it is rain with joy! But it is hot. The flower melt like lava in the dist. But one thing left rain pore by wasintan d.c. Avery buddy skep and sad yippee! Adam  bejimen  and Tyler we doing now watch me wipe watch me nana. Hudson nest door he sad some more it's about to storm. But it's so nice out we can't resist. absurd or bitter or merry!

We played in the rain by my house I here'd the rain cover the glories sky.my house peek it's way to the rain.Rain shadows bleenked it's way closer to the worlds eges  boom it pord more faster and faster than ever. Tyler and Adam and bingimen too!We kap playen naw wacht me wipe wacht me nana ok.my mom made me egg in the morning then it still was rain i peeked out the window my friends are still out there and I join them.               

Now watch me wipe watch me nana kill it watch me wipe wipe watch me nana ok!   The clods glaerd like a storm is kamen to hit washing tin  d.c..                   

It was so fun today I hope it rains again.

One day there three person named  Rileigh,Kadena and  I. Rileigh is a queen and Kadanca  is a smart.It not raining all day,come on rain kadanca said.Then queen Rileigh said come on rain,come on rain.and come on rain.Then 3 weeks the rain came,we splash,SPLASH!it was fun and the rain.Everyone was happy. The rain was stop ,Then Rileigh,Kadanca,and I,Then I said it was fun.I hope the rain come next time.
