Surprise Baby Shower

My sweet third graders surprised me with the most precious baby shower today! Oh how I'm thankful for these sweet children!
They are all voting for a boy and think it is crazy that we have chosen to keep it a surprise!
My sweet girl was invited too! How thoughtful!

Project Colonial Presentations underway

We are starting our project by reading from our textbooks, notes, and websites to create a presentation on the Lord'sProprietors, Cash Crops, and the Gullah culture. They will use this research to create a Google Slides presentation to share with their classmates and on our blog. Stay tuned.

Book Presentations

We have read some pretty awesome and interesting books in our Guided Reading sessions recently. The students decided they wanted to share the books and what they learned with their friends. They took full control of this project. Using Google Slides, they created presentations with evidence from the text and images from google and the text. After completion, they shared their book presentations with the class.

Here are a few examples...

Daniel's Presentation

Maile's Presentation

Hunter's Presentation

Great job to my entire crew!

They enjoyed creating the presentations so much that we are going to create early colonial presentations in Social Studies. Stay tuned.. this will be a great resource to use as you prepare for the test!

Owl Pellets

We explored owl pellets (AKA- Owl Vomit) today! We are learning in Science how organisms pass energy to one another in a food chain. Owls eat their entire meal whole and regurgitate what they can't digest, like the bones and hair. Eeewww. And then crazy people like us actually buy it and dig through it! HAHA!
Below is a video we viewed on a man who has made a living off of collecting and sanitizing owl pellets before selling them to schools.

Feature Articles

It is so rewarding when you use various types of genres and then witness your students writing their own! We have read feature articles a lot this year. After researching an animal of their choice, the students began writing their own feature article using noticings from mentor articles.
As you can see, our young authors are using multiple resources to make their writing informative and fun to read. I can't wait to share their finished products!

Back to life... Back to reality!

Room 303 was awfully quiet this morning! We had lots of sleepy heads. There is hardly an ounce of oxygen in the class after all the yawning! The good news is, we all LOVE each other so much. Although I enjoyed my days of sleeping in, drinking my coffee while relaxing in my pjs on the couch, and spending time with my family, I missed these kiddos terribly! I am so thankful to be back to school and making an impact in your children's lives! Thank you, as always, for sharing them with me!
She's posing for the picture, acting like this work is SO fun! haha!
Really? I just want to eat my goldfish.
Oh....my.... my eyes are burning. Give me my bed!
He's thrilled to be with his teacher!
Learning is awesome!
Hey, it's not so bad! We love each other and school is cool! Yay for the 2nd half of 3rd grade!
